I was born in the captal city of Sierra Leone, Freetown. Sierra leone is one of the smallest country in Africa. my tribe is Mende; the language we speak in Sierra Leone are Mende, Krio and pigeon language. When we lived in Sierra Leone i lived with the parents, two brother and one, sister. My parents names, are Mrs Ramata Josiah, father's name is Patrick Kinei Josiah, my older brother's name is Patrick Junior Josiah and my other brothers name is Patrick Josspeh Josiah, and my cousin’s name is Mark Brima who now lives with us.
My current age is 16 turning 17 years old this April on the 25th.
Childhood
I was at the age of 2 years when the war
broke out where we were staying. We ran from place to place. The war went for 11
years straight, from (1991-2002)
it began on 23 March 1991, between the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) which is
supported from the special forces
of Charles Taylor’s National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) and the African
Government. My parents just bundled the family all together and fled to Guinea. We stayed there
for about 1 year before we travelled to Brisbane Australia, by then I was 7
years old. Three days from arriving, we received a phone from back home
that my grandma had died. My childhood was very traumatic as we were in a war- torn
country. Many people lost their lives, some lost their arms and legs and even
fingers. While some people lost their houses. Some parents were killed
while their children were watching. Boys were forced to join into the shooting
of innocent children, parents, and even babies, and the girls were force into
sex slavery and many were raped. When we arrived in Australia we first lived
in Acacia Ridge. Then the family then moved to Browns Plains.
Family
I have a lot of people in my family, some are back home in Sierra
Leone, my uncle and aunty live in London, another aunty lives in America, with
my cousins, some of them live in Sydney and Melbourne. My grandma and my
brother’s two twins and also my elder brother have passed away and went to be
with the good Lord. Some of my really close friends I take as
family.
Schooling
The school I attended in Africa is called Eva- Houston Preparatory School. When
I arrived to Australia I did grade 2 again in Watson Road State School until I
finished grade 7. The start high school I attended was Sunnybank State High
School but in the middle of grade 8 around term three I moved to Browns Plains.
When I was attending Brown Plains State High School. I find it difficult at Brown Plains beacuse of this girl by the name Torey. In the middle of grade 11, I moved to Groves Christian College. I will be staying at Groves Christian College until I finished grade 12 this year. When I finish school this year I tend to attend, Heritage Christian College to study Christian Ministry and also do some bible college. After I finish that I would, like to do society science in Heritage Christian College.
Future
In the future I hope to travel around the world helping the sick and in need children and also, telling them about the goodness and love of God to the unbeliever like my friends Mitchell Harding and Jacob Mailes and see their life change for the better. I also hope to be happy with my future husband and four children. I would like to live in an 8 bed room houses with a very big swimming pool. The country I hope to live in is Africa in Sierra Leone. I would like to make my children grow up in Africa and when the children are about to
start university we all travel to Brisbane, Australia.
